St Simons Island lighthouseSt. Simons Island Light House - St. Simons Island Light is a lighthouse, located in St. Simons Sound in USCG district number 7, is 104 feet (32 m) tall and uses a third order fresnel lens. The light keeper's residence is a two-story victorian brick structure. Established in 1811, the light was first lit in 1872, was automated in 1954 and is still operational. The original octagonal tower on the site was blown up by confederate forces in 1861. The current structure is an active lighthouse for navigational purposes and a museum. It is on lease from the U.S. Coast Guard to the Coastal Georgia Historical Society and is open to the public.

Fort Frederica - Fort Frederica was established in 1736 by James Oglethorpe to protect the southern boundary of his new colony of Georgia. Colonists from England, Scotland, and the Germanic states came to Frederica to support this endeavor.

Jekyll Island - By law, only 35% of Jekyll Island can be developed, leaving 65% of the island as a natural conservation area. The State of Georgia purchased Jekyll Island from the Jekyll Island Club in 1947 for $675,000 (or $5,563,416 in 2003 dollars). In 2003, 204 Sea Turtles laid their eggs on Jekyll Island beaches.

Jekyll Island Museum - The largest restoration project in the Southeast, includes the 240 acre Jekyll Island Club Historic District. More than 25 buildings, many open for touring.

Hofwyl-Broadfield PlantationHofwyl-Broadfield Plantation - This beautiful plantation represents the history and culture of Georgia's rice coast. From l800 to 1915 this site was a thriving rice plantation. Today the 1,268-acre historic site is a mix of saltmarsh, pasture and flatwoods.




Horton House ruins - Constructed in 1743, Horton House - a tabby ruin on the north end of Jekyll Island, is one of the oldest structures in the State of Georgia.

Neptune Park - Here you will find a playground, park and the Casinos. The public library is housed in the Old Casino Building as is the theater where The Island Players give performances. Public musical performances are held at the band stand. The New Casino Building holds a swimming pool (seasonal).
